Leadville on a Singlespeed

July 29, 2019 - I first did the LT100 in 2012 on a singlespeed. It was a thrill to return to Leadville, this time tackling the course as a 3-day stage racing format. Still battling a shoulder injury (6 mos of weekly P/T now), I am super stoked with my 2nd Place Male Singlespeed finish.

I first did the LT100 in 2012 on a singlespeed. I was never happy with my time, ~10hrs and always wanted to return. I entered the lottery this year, but didn't get in. It was a thrill to finally return to Leadville this past weekend. this time tackling the course as a 3-day stage racing format. Still battling a shoulder injury (6 mos of weekly P/T now), I am super stoked with my 2nd Place Male Singlespeed finish. Taking small nibbles of the course really helped me gain better insight into gear selection. I ended up running the same gear for all 3 stages, 32x19. After crushing the Columbine segment in 1:21, I am convinced this is the right gear for me when I take on the full course again in 2020, thanks to my qualifying coin received this weekend!
