Trying New Things is Rewarding

Fabulous weather for a challenging trail half-marathon on the beautiful trail system of Salida, Colorado.

Training through the winter months can be tricky with snow blanketing the trails near home and then melting away to create windows for training runs. This trail half was my first trail running race ever and my first half-marathon distance in exactly ten years!

It was a beautiful day to be running the trails with a bunch of friendly folks and I couldn't help but feel grateful for my health and the opportunity to train for and compete in such a cool race, which with about 2000' of climbing on technical trails was quite the challenge!

I'm thankful to my family for creating the time for me to train and race, and also grateful to live in the beautiful Arkanasa River Valley where opportunities for outdoor adventures and races abound.
