May 08, 2019 - When a storm front comes through, you suck it up and run up the mountain.
As if running 2,100 feet up a technical trail wasn't hard enough, we had a storm and a cold front come through the morning of the race. We were literally running up a stream where small animals could've been carried away. Sideways rain, slippery, steep, muddy conditions, sharp volcanic rock and roots all are in the mix. It definitely was challenging, but exhilarating! It's an out and back --repeat twice. Total elevation was 4,209 feet and 12 miles. This is my 3rd time doing this race, and while it's usually extremely humid, this was actually a welcome change. I ended up finishing 7th woman overall and the cool prize was reusable bamboo 'to-go' utensils.
